Leading Multinational Battery Manufacturer and Insurer Appoints Legal Head

Customer Mandate: A leading Indian multinational storage battery manufacturer and life insurance company was in search of the role of Legal Head who would report to the President – Legal & Company Secretary and would be responsible for protecting all company patents, trademarks, and copyrights of the organization by providing legal advice to the organization and the managers by ensuring that the company’s interests are protected. They were looking for someone who not only has experience in core litigation & drafting skills but can also deal with Intellectual Property matters and real estate matters. The job role demanded a person who has past experience in a Legal role in a large conglomerate and must be leading a team of not less than 5 – 6 members.

Solution: The Kontempore executive search team after receiving the mandate started doing widespread sourcing of talents for the business requirements of the Company. The team focused on candidates from the Manufacturing sector who would have the ability to represent the Company at the court hearings and tribunals by ensuring that the company’s interest is effectively safeguarded and hence carrying out the legal obligations effectively. The team successfully mapped candidates of their competitors and found a few suitable matches for the desired position. In the first stage, 15 candidates with 15 years of experience were shortlisted.

Out of them, the candidate who was finalized for the role used to work as a Senior Legal Counsel in an Indian multinational steel-making company. The candidate was responsible for managing cases under arbitration, real estate, and property matters, labor, consumer, FSSA, property, IR, competition, etc.
