KIIT School of Management (KSOM) orchestrated its 4th National Business Analytics Konclave on August 19th, 2023, centering around the theme, “Building a Sustainable Inclusive Future: Industrial Challenges and Opportunities in Analytics.” The objective of the conclave was to delve into how businesses should adopt analytics and the opportunities and challenges associated with analytics.

Professor Piyusa Das, the Convenor of the Konclave, offered a cordial greeting to the esteemed assembly and set the context for the panel discussions to follow. He said that the true power of analytics lies not in answering the questions but in enabling us to ask the right questions and questioning our assumptions, status quo, and complacency.
Professor Kumar Mohanty, the Director of Corporate Relations at KIIT DU, welcomed the attendees and introduced prominent personalities from the corporate realm, emphasizing the lasting significance that these Konclaves hold in cultivating vital corporate associations. He acknowledged the vision of the respected founder of KIIT and KISS University, Professor (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, the leadership of Dr. Sasmita Samanta, the Vice Chancellor of KIIT DU, and the guidance of Dr. Sumita Mishra, the Dean of KIIT School of Management, for the conclave’s success.

The panel discussion was on the topic “Business Transformation with the Adoption of Analytics.” Mr. Deepak Sharma, an Analytics, Strategy & Operations Leader, moderated the panel discussion. The panel comprised Mr. Nitin Gupta, Senior Director-Enterprise Analytics Data and AI, VISA, and Dr. Sunil Kumar, Head of Data Science & Analytics for the International Service Support Group at Lenovo, Mr. Deb Kumar Majumder, Partner and Data & Technology Transformation Leader at IBM Consulting, Mr. Sanjay Kar, Head of Analytics at Equifax India. They discussed how the analytics landscape has evolved and how businesses have adopted it with time. The development of analytics tools has been driven by the need to solve complex problems and make better data-based decisions. They advised the students to be very focused and curious while pursuing careers in analytics. The guest speakers’ views held immense value, and their experiences provided valuable insights to the audience.

Professor Mohar Banerjee delivered the Vote of Thanks from the KIIT School of Management. In her address, she reaffirmed the continuous commitment of KSOM and KIIT toward fostering industry collaborations. She emphasized that this commitment is an essential criterion for any esteemed global university.

The panel discussion was followed by six parallel workshops, from Introduction to data science and Analytics to Text and Natural Language Processing and Generative Artificial Intelligence. One workshop focused on using analytics in operations and another on credit risk management in banks. Mr. Amit Kumar Parija, GM Worldwide & President-WHITEKLAY, extensively covered the theme of “Big Data Analytics.” These workshops provided participants with valuable insights and diverse perspectives on analytics.
